Al Sparkes is a retired NSW Policeman and in 1996 Alan dropped himself into a flooded storm water drain in Coffs Harbour to save a drowning boy. Alan was later awarded the Australian Cross of Valour, the highest civilian award available for his heroic acts of bravery.
Alan had a catastrophic breakdown and this is his story.
Alan also penned a book, ‘The Cost of Bravery’.
