Not a nice subject guys but can I ask a question that someone could answer? Unfortunately I am suffering advanced cancer with not much chance of recovering.
My question is …is there any assistance out there from the Police Association or RPA for my wife to assist in my pension being transferred over to her when I pass?
Thanking you in advance.
Rick Lettice
Sad that one has to think of these things when you know that the inevitable is coming.
Rick was a great bloke. He lived at Victoria Ave, Mortdale when we were mates in 1987. We used to have the odd schooner at the St George Budapest Soccer Club Victoria Ave, Mortdale. There were several Police that used to socialise off duty at that Club. Rick was working at Kingscross & I at Mascot. Those days the neighbouring Divisions were social with friendly rivalry. After night shift, get together s for breakfast at local pubs with other triple 0 staff were common. Zetland Hotel, Rosebery, The Shitties Port Botany, Maroubra and the White Horse Pub Hurstville. Maybe golf or tennis after. Rick went to plain clothes and I worked together with him at the ‘Wood Chuck’ Program about 1991. He saved my life after a buy bust went wrong and I received a hiding from a number of men, causing Rick to discharge his pistol toward the offenders. The following week Rick was able to arrest the drug dealer, saving our credibility. We socialised until he was able to transfer to Wollongong through another Police mate, Mal Cox. I lost touch after Rick moved South, but I will always remember him as a loyal or solid mate who would do anything for you! Lest we forget!
