RAIL POLICE RAID HOUSES
Railway detectives yesterday recovered more than £1000 worth of goods allegedly stolen recently from the railways.
They recovered the goods in a raid on a house in Park Avenue, Pagewood.
Later they seized more goods in a raid on a house in Erskineville.
Detective Bert James, of the C.I.B., Railway detective A. R. Whittaker and five other railway detectives made the raids.
They raided the house in Pagewood when they saw a man drive an empty truck into the premises. They found the living-room stacked high with carpets, tyres, arid men’s sports coats.
The carpets included 12 wall-to-wall carpets and about 100 yards of carpet runner.
In the raid at Erskineville the detectives arrested a man carrying a sugar bag. The sugar bag contained 12 dozen new spoons and a quantity of men’s sand shoes.
Later, at Daceyville Police Station, the detectives charged a young married woman with having had in her custody goods suspected of being stolen.
At Central Police Station they laid similar charges against the woman’s three brothers.

Sorry to hear of your passing. What a lovely man. Rest in peace Al pal. Anna
I worked with Alan in my CIB days way back when he was a young Sergeant. I remember him as friendly and very likable. I wish I could provide more info but this was in the 1980’s and I have memory issues. May he rest in peace.
