STAFFORD, Robert William “Bob”
Late of Cherrybrook.
Passed away peacefully on Thursday 19th April 2018.
Aged 83 Years
Beloved husband of Norma. Loving father of Darren, Linda and Scott. Devoted Pa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A special man in the lives of all his extended family and friends.
I was a cadet attached to Hornsby PS when I first met Sgt Bob Stafford. Cadet’s used to cop a fir bit of crap but Sgt Stafford stood out as someone who was always willing to listen and support. He came back to the station one day after being out on the road for a short time. As I recall he was observer and his driver was a former HWP man who apparently made a screaming U-turn to chase a car but hit a pole or tree. Bob apparently kicked the powder fire extinguisher mounted on the car floor and it went off. When they both returned to the station they were covered in white dust. Very amusing but Bob wasn’t so no one laughed. A good man that I’ve never forgotten. RIP Sarge.
