Jim is credited with the investigation into the murder of NSWPF member, Constable Clarence Roy PIRIE in October 1960 at Capertee, NSW.
Jim would have gone through training at Penrith Police Depot. He worked with my father Craig Cook on GD’s at Lithgow in the early 50’s.
Jim was stationed at Lithgow GD’s around 1952-55. He was stationed there with my father, Craig Cook.
What a good man. Lived around the corner from me at Roselands. Who could forget that handshake or that voice. A great shame. My deepest sympathies to his family.
I agree with Mick McGann. Jim was a very honest and honorable man. He was of the highest integrity and a totally committed police officer. He combined physical and moral courage and strength and his high level of commitment was an inspiration to myself and others who had the good fortune to work with him. Jim’s leadership and example was an inspiration to me to be when I was attached to Bankstown Detectives for some years in the 1970’s.
