Sub Inspector Morrine died under unknown circumstances at the Redfern Police Academy on Tuesday 13 January, 1914. The Sydney Morning Herald of 14 January, 1914 reported the following brief information on the death.

 

POLICE OFFICER’S DEATH.

Police Sub-inspector Robert Morrine suddenly collapsed and died at the police depot, Redfern, yesterday. Deceased had been storekeeper at the depot since 1909. He joined the force in 1887.

 

The sub inspector appears to have joined the New South Wales Police Force in 1887 and at the time of his death was store keeper at the Redfern Depot (Police Academy). He had previously served as a senior sergeant in the superintendent’s office at West Maitland until mid-1909, when he was promoted and transferred to Redfern.
