The death of Constable Goodman was very briefly reported in the Sydney Morning Herald of 26 June, 1946.
POLICEMAN DIES AT SWITCHBOARD.
A policeman was found dead alongside the telephone switchboard at the police depot, Redfern late on Monday night. A medical examination revealed that he had suffered a heart seizure. He was First Class Constable Bertie Lewis Goodman, 55, of Curzon Street, Ryde, who joined the police force in 1919.

At the time of his death the constable was aged about 55 years and was apparently stationed at the Redfern Police Depot.Â
