Sorry to hear the news. I worked with Ken as my Sgt at Katoomba in the late 70’s, both in GDs and in the Rescue Squad. He was always a good bloke to work with and I remember the car pool trips from Springwood to Katoomba to work in his little purple toyota. RIP Ken
I was the investigator for the Coroner regarding the allegations levelled at Ken during the earthquake. NEVER did Ken make a wrong decision during that whole operation and my report to the Coroner made it very clear that Ken acted with complete professionalism and made all the correct operational decisions.
At the time there was some in-fighting between the Police Rescue Squad and the Fire Brigade and it was this that fuelled media coverage of the rescue operations.
I found Ken to be highly professional and a true Policeman.
During the 6 months it took to complete my investigation I kept Ken up to date with the progress.
I felt we had a bond after that had completed.
I’m am sincerely sorry to hear that inquiry took a toll on him, it should not have, he did nothing wrong.
RIP Ken
Worked with Ken at Katoomba for a few years. A champion bloke. R.I.P. mate
