Sacked Police to get job back

The tribunal had ordered that John Gregory Donlan and Ward Andrew Hanson, who were off duty at the time of the attack, be reinstated but deprived of some seniority. It ruled they were capable of rendering valuable service in the future and should have the opportunity to continue in the police force.
……..appealed against the decision. Donlan and Hanson were convicted of assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in September 1990. Yesterday, the dissenting judge, Justice Powell, said the men were not jailed because the magistrate took into account the fact they would “suffer severely” as a result of being sacked.
