CROKE, James Devereux.
Late of Seaforth and formerly of Lismore; retired Chief Inspector, NSW Police.
Passed away in Sydney on Thursday, August 15, 2013

Aged 81 years.

Only son of the late James and Cecilia, much loved brother of Mary Glynn of Lismore. Beloved Uncle of Christopher Glynn (dec’d), Maria Jenkins and Marguerite Glynn of Sydney and their partners. Sadly missed by his extended family and many friends.

Requiescat in pace

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Requiem Mass, for the repose of JAMES’ soul, to be offered at St Carthage’s Catholic Cathedral Lismore, on Tuesday (August 20, 2013) commencing at 10am. Followed by burial at the Lismore Memorial Gardens Lawn Cemetery, Skyline Road Goonellabah.

Deveruex may have worked, during his career, at the Country Superintendents Office, Police Headquarters in College St, Sydney.
He also worked at The Facilities Section, Police Traffic Branch, Roseberry ( circa 1975 ) and is described as “one of natures gentlemen who was never heard to say a bad word against anyone else or use any profanity”
In the late 1970’s he was in ‘Recruiting’.
He also worked at Darlinghurst in 1977 / 78.
Is remembered as working from the Facilities Section back around 1974.
