 Sergeant 3rd Class P. J. Lowrey, Detective Senior Constables B. T. Hardwick and D. K. Frost and Constable M. Lunnon - At Wagga Wagga on 12th October, 1980, Sergeant 3rd Class Lowrey confronted a mentally disturbed person who, whilst armed with two kitchen knifes, had threatened the lives of his two children and Police. The Sergeant wrested the larger knife from the man's left hand and with the assistance of Detective Senior Constables Hardwick and Frost and Constable Lunnon effected his arrest after a violent struggle.
