I have been a member of the NSW Police Service, serving for 30 years, and held the rank of Acting Senior Sergeant until my transfer. I was appointed a lecturer to Charles Sturt University – School of Policing Studies, in January 1999, for four years whilst on leave from the Police Service. My operational background includes: general and plain clothes duties, field training officer, personnel and job analyst. For the last fifteen years, I have been involved in the learning and development of operational police and student police officers. Until recently I also taught in the community and vocational education sector. Currently undertaking the Doctor of Education at Deakin University, Geelong, Victoria as a distance student, exploring police teaching practice in classroom management of student emotions in high risk learning environments.
